When I was in grade 12, I was nominated and won the Great Kids Award for my work with the Edmonton Mustard Seed. I was organizing and running meals and popcorn nights at the local soup kitchen with my friends and others from my home town who had volunteered with me. It is still such a passion for me. I love to bring food in and be able to make a change in each person's day.
Shortly afterwards, I was short-listed as a Youth Ambassador for World Vision after hosting four consecutive 30-Hour-Famines at my High School in Redwater, Alberta.
Four years ago, I traveled to the Philippines with a small non-profit organization called the Kootenay World Outreach Society to meet my sponsored children, assist in receiving more children for sponsorship, help with some local events and to experience the culture. Since I have returned, I have run an Alberta division of the same organization, organizing sponsorship for new children I met (and recently some seniors too!).
